SCALE Scale precipitation control
SCALE is a phosphorous based chemical in an aqueous solution and used for the prevention of scale buildup. SCALE is extremely effective at preventing calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate scale, as well as inhibiting barium sulfate scale. SCALE can tolerate very high concentrations of salt (NaCl, KCl), increased levels of metal impurities in solutions and higher alkalinity levels. SCALE can be added directly into the fracturing fluid to prevent flash scale formation. SCALE will also plate out on the formation face to inhibit growth of scale over time. Recommended dosage levels range from 0.50-1.00 gal of SCALE per 1000 gal of base fluid, but testing is recommended before use.
